Architect, Project Manager
Ted was born in Boston and grew up in the Boston area. Family ski vacations at Mt Abram and Sunday River near Bethel, Maine and wilderness trips near Bethel helped instill a love and respect for nature at an early age. He is a ski instructor at Mt. Abram ski area, Greenwood and Bethel area chamber member, Maine Island Trail Association member and volunteer, and Portland Business Network member and Chair of the Membership Committee in Portland, Maine. He first became interested in architecture during his college years while working as a carpenter. Prior to obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design, Ted studied physics at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Ted held a General Contractor’s license in Massachusetts prior to obtaining a Masters degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado. He holds an NCARB certificate, and has obtained architecture licenses in four states, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Alaska. Ted’s respect for environmental context informs his work as he seeks to help his clients realize their vision.

Client Relations and Business Professional
From a young age Susan loved and actively enjoyed the outdoors and creative
endeavors. Her high school and college years were spent in Colorado exploring the
mountains and experimenting with different art forms in her free time. She earned a business degree with an emphasis in small business management from the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduation she accepted a management position in Denver prior to starting a design and build company with Ted in New England. It was through their company that she found an opportunity to combine her professional and personal interests and developed a love of design. After children, Susan continued to develop as an artist professionally, earned her MBA with an emphasis in analytics, and took coursework in art. Her thesis project was on using internal business data and public GIS data as decision-support tools for small business management and entrepreneurship. Before she and Ted launched TDArchitect in Maine, she worked as a Communications/Marketing Manager in North Carolina and then as a Process Improvement Coordinator/Liaison for
the State of Alaska. Her varied experiences and interests bring to TDArchitect an ability to listen carefully and translate clients’ wants and needs into form and space.
